IKEA hacked its new battery charger into a book

When it comes to the aesthetic of the home, battery chargers are low on the list of priorities. But trust IKEA to not let ugly electronics ruin our home decor. Joining the list of upgrades is the IKEA TJUGO battery charger.

The TJUGO has eight slots that let you charge AA or AAA batteries. It shuts off when the batteries are fully charged, reducing the risk of overheating. The charger connects to a removable wall adapter via a 5-feet cord.

Its best feature? It folds up to look like a book. In a muted grey-green shade, it is an elegant charger and can take pride of place on your workstation.

Retailing at $17.99 in the US, it’s not one of IKEA’s cheapest chargers. Pretty things come at a price.

Another 5 stars from Kirkk who wrote, “I have several of these and use them with rechargeable AA and AAA batteries from IKEA, Amazon, and Eneloop. Works great with every battery I’ve put in it. Stops charging once the battery is charged so you can store the batteries in here without worrying about overcharging. Great value.”

The LADDA batteries are also given the same colourways as the TJUGO, a departure from the old shade of beige.

AA LADDA batteries are available in 2450mAh and 1900mAh varieties, with the 2450mAh version providing approximately 30% more operating time than the latter. AAA batteries are available in 750mAH.

We’re happy we have one less charger to hide.
