Billy + Glis boxes = Tiered bookshelf

The Glis boxes sold in the Children’s section, code 800.985.83, are just the right size to put at the back of Billy bookcase shelves to allow paperbacks to be stacked two deep on the shelf whilst keeping the back row visible. You can five five of them per shelf of an 80cm wide Billy.

Excellent choice of reading material, btw!

“five five” should read “fit four”.

I’m guessing the fifth Glis goes in short side in, then they fit. I have to say I like this idea a lot. Not as lot as I’d like Ikea to make less-deep bookshelves for us paperback enthusiasts, but still a lot.

and – you can put all those annoying little things in the boxes that you need, but don’t want on show e.g. paperclips, rubber bands, rolls of sticky tape, batteries etc. It maybe possible, depending on your book collection, to identify which box each thing is in by the subject matter of the books sitting on top of it.
