DIY clothes drying rack hacked from IKEA shoe rack

Here is a DIY clothes / towel drying rack that I fabricated using one TSUJIG shoe rack and two GRUNDTAL rails. It’s easy to open and store even when loaded.

It’s simply two 2″ x 2″ that I drilled to fit the bars of the shoe rack. Spacing them evenly.

Half the rails are just drilled deep enough to receive the rails and the other half has a hole drilled to accommodate the allen head screw.

The mounting bracket at the bottom is the bracket of the GRUNDTAL rails and the other pair of brackets is used to hold two small pulleys with a groove, which I bought online to guide the metal cables.

I used two planks of wood to make the counterweight and to hold the pulleys on top.

The plank on the wall stops the counterweight plank and holds it firmly in place.

A few washers here and there and a few coat of stain and varnish and that’s it

Watch the video at the end of the post to see it in action.
