Desktop Mic Stand from a Lamp

Cheap desktop microphone made from “IKEA TERTIAL” lamp. This Mic stand was made for a Zoom H1 recorder and because of that it was a very easy project.

Things we need for this project:

  • Dual nut screw (hot shoe mount) or an ordinary screw
  • “T” shape bracket

Total costs around $12

One Response to Desktop Mic Stand from a Lamp

Hi, hate to be this dude but I felt I should mention that this hack is harder than it looks. Or at least, expect it to take some time to find the right parts and have them shipped. I could not find a T bracket like that anywhere, most are made for doors so they are much larger. I ended up making one myself. The shoe mount thing will work for handheld recorders like that but you’ll need a 1/4″ to 3 5/8 ” adapter (if I recall correctly) to mount an american style mic holder. Also keep in mind, the mic you want might be too heavy for the lamp stand to handle.

I eventually got it to work but it took a few mistakes and a lot of patience, and more like $20 after all is said and done, not $12.
