You just need:
different acyl colors (water based)
black and brown spray
brushes
and boxes to mix

You start with spraying in the corners
Then you paint the first base (any color) especially in the corners
Then you paint everything (like on the photo)
After that you paint again (when it was dry) with colors like on the photo
For the details you take a brown aryl and you just touch the edges

If you want you can stick first some paper on the ground
or you spray on paper edges to have a special look

I mixed the colors! It was fun!

I will change the doorknobs later

Seriously, this gets published? How is painting a bunch of doors that are being used as doors count as a hack? Doesn’t it fall foul of no 8 on ‘why you hack may not appear’?

Yeah I’m a bit bitter ‘cos I once submitted something which unlike this did actually involve using Ikea products for purposes other that which they were intended for and it wasn’t published.

    • Hi Bob
Thanks for your comment. It may depend on when your submission came in … when I first migrated from Blogger to WP, quite a few hacks submitted were not published as the photos didn’t come through and I did not manage to collect emails so could not contact the hackers.

Also, previously, we did not have an ideas section, which are not such “hack-y” mods.

Do send it in again and I can take a look at it again.

      Best,
      Jules

If you’re looking in the “Ideas” section for a hack, you’re gonna have a bad time.

      • FL Mom says:

To Banon: In fairness to Bob outbox, he may have clicked through when this item was new and appeared in the ‘Featured’ area which doesn’t distinguish between hacks and ideas. Even this detail page doesn’t clearly indicate that we’re in the Ideas section. Further confusing the matter, the OP put the title, “Steps for IKEA Hack,” at the top of the pictures for this item.

I think it’s fabulous. Looking at the painted doors feels like I’m looking at an oil painting. “Hacked”, or not, it’s well done.

    Hi there,

It looks like you’ve used a filter for those pics, which makes it difficult to see what the finished item “really” looks like. Do you have any additional pics without filter that you could upload? Like the idea and am curious to see more detail. Thanks!

I think that’s brilliant idea! we have 4 plain white doors from ikea pax wardrobes, and I wanted to brighten them up because they look very boring in my boys room! many thanks for idea! because the drawing is the fun too!
