GRUNDTAL Magnetic knife rack without screws

Materials: Grundtal

Description: I bought Grundtal magnetic knife rack a looong time ago, but  it never ended up on the wall since I didn’t feel comfortable to drill holes to the kitchen tilings, but then I came up with a very simple idea to avoid drilling. I left the rounded metal parts out and used a piece of wood and two sided stickers instead.

You might come out with a question why not to add stickers straight to the metallic back rack, but it is not possible since the rack has to come approximately 1 cm ot from the wall. That is why you need a piece of wood.

Hello! This is my hack from 1,5 years ago and rack is still hanging on the wall with original tapes yet I’m pulling the knives off everyday :)

How is this holding up? Any crashing down mishaps?

That is one cool grater! Also, if you worry about the double-side foam tape, you can find industrial strength ones from 3M that are stronger per square inch than welds.

What are the dimensions of the piece of wood? 1cm think? or is that too much?

I tried the same with a magnetic spicerack, but after a few months it came down. Be careful with those knives, dear.

I think it could be dangerous. Especially for our childrens.
If for any reason the stickers fail, the knifes could fall down to the floor… screws damage the wall, but are SAFE.

You’re supposed to drill into the caulk, not the tiles…
