Rast! Yet Another Play Kitchen

Form Details
Title: Rast! Yet Another Play Kitchen
Materials: Rast Bedside Table x 2, Birch Plywood, Laser Cutter
Description: I decided that i wanted to make my daughter a kitchen for her second Christmas as she loves baking in the kitchen with mummy and daddy.

I have looked at a lot of the various hacks around, and owe it all to those original hacks as the inspiration for this one.

I was lucky enough to be taking delivery at work (school) of a laser cutter and what better excuse to put it and myself through its paces, than to hack together a kitchen!

I essentially used 1 Rast bedside table as a frame and the second Rast was used for the central divider and fixings etc. In hindsight there would be better ways of doing this, such as using scrap material for these parts, as i was left with most of the second Rast.

I used the laser cutter to engrave and cut most parts and hand finished everything. I was tempted to paint it all but decided that i wanted to keep the natural wood.

It was a challenge, and i made a lot of mistakes along the way, but i loved making it and hopefully my daughter will get a lot of pleasure out of it.

Oh and the time on the clock is the time she was born :)

I really like the burned effect from the laser, makes it appear much more plastic/spatial!
