Photo Wall Done Riktig
Materials: DIGNITET Curtain wire, DIGNITET Support/corner fixture + RIKTIG Curtain hook with clip
Description: Riktig is the Scandinavian word for right.
I wanted to create a photo wall that:
1) could be easily updated with new photos
2) wasn't too expensive
3) wasn't dependent on one business that might not be there in the future (I'm looking at you ixxi)
I used:
DIGNITET Curtain wire
DIGNITET Support/corner fixture
RIKTIG Curtain hook with clip
Big sheets of thick paper/cardboard
Glue (I used a liquid glue sponge thingie)
Photos
Cutting knife, ruler etc.
I believe this hack is pretty self-explanatory but some notes:
The hooks between the photos are made be combining two hooks.
The square photos are 20x20cm.
The black squares are 25.3x25.3cm.
The holes are 4mm in diameter and the centre of the holes are 1.2cm away from the sides/tops/bottoms of the black squares.
The distance between the black squares is 3.7cm.
Remember that distance when calculating the size of the 2:1, 3:1, supersized 1:1 or whatever shape you might want to create:)
I believe that's about it. The lamp is also from ikea (FORSÅ). The images in the bottom are a bit off because I ran out of hooks - Ikea is only 10 min away so I'll fix that soon. I don't have the total costs for this project but the IKEA items are dirt cheap:)

Thanks for the nice comments:)
ReplyDelete@Dennis: I used "fotokarton" from this shop http://www.tuteinogkoch.dk that I cut using a knife. I didn't cut frames - the photos are glued on top of the black cardboard.
Brilliant :)
DeleteWhat a couch is it? Mange tak, Tim
ReplyDeleteThe couches are old Erik Jørgensen that I renovated and got upholstered.
DeleteLooks like the EJ315, thanks for your help! Really love it as the rest of the room!
DeleteThe one in the picture is actually the 215:)
DeleteBut we have the 315 as well (not in picture)

Your sofa is beautiful,
brand, wher did you buy it?
Lot of thanks
Thank you very much. The sofa is an old danish design classic that I renovated and got upholstered. It's called EJ315 - EJ for Erik Jørgensen:)
DeleteThank you!
DeleteWhy that remark about ixxi? They still exist, don't they?
ReplyDeleteThey do (and it looks great btw) but it's not about the present - it's about trying to make it as future proof as possible:)
DeleteOK, then I misunderstood you. ;)
DeleteOne question. What are the small holes for? It looks like the clips arts doing all the work.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand it's only the top row using the clips, hooks are used elsewhere. See photo 3 of 4.
DeleteCorrect. Although I've also used the clips on the bottom 9 photos because I ran out of hooks.
DeleteThe photos twist a bit when using the clips between the photos - so hooks are better for that.
Love it! Looks really dope.
ReplyDeleteThanks:)

ReplyDeleteYou could use s-hooks instead with no problem - your measurements obviously most likely be a bit different. If you use the ikea hooks you just "pull them together" (don't know how to describe it more clearly) so they are combined like you see in picture 3.
I would recommend using clips for the top row as this allows you to do small height adjustments
i wonder if a second curtain wire at the Bottom could keep the Images in place. in case of some windy areas for example near a window
ReplyDeleteIt´s a good idea coss the white wall give a high contrast!
ReplyDeleteAmazing idea ! ! ! !
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do tha same! Thanks!
