Powder Room by JANEJIRA

Materials: kitchen cabinet

Description: Get the expensive floating vanity look without paying high dollars! I used the kitchen cabinet here, and installed sideways. Best of all, I found the cabinet and doors on the clearance section, so I paid something like $20 for the whole vanity! The handle was a leftover from a kitchen project.

  1. How big is this room. My husband and I are thinking of converting our small walk-in closet into a powder room, but we are not sure if it is big enough. Love the colors of your tile on walls, btw :)

  2. That's an amazing price for the look. I don't see this cabinet on the website. You say you installed it sideways, so is this a door front cabinet? Was it intended as a wall cabinet? How do you keep the door from falling open? Our powder room desperately needs a new cabinet and we need to find a bargain like this, so I'd love to know more about how you made this work so well. I love your results! You did a beautiful job pulling the whole room together with those brilliant colors.

  3. Bathroom sink and faucet combo can be purchased on Overstock.com
I assume you have two magnet closures on the cabinet to keep the door in its closed position?

  5. Janejira,
you really should check out Pippa's kitchen skimmer turned soap dish, which would work very well with your round vessel sink, that plastic dispenser just does not belong.
    Great looking vanity cabinet!

    1. you should really check out the concept that if you can't say anything nice you should STFU.

    2. Eehh..... Tina DID say something nice, and in fact nothing nasty.
It's you Anonymous that said something nasty and nothing nice.

  6. I love the floating vanity look, I think it really helps to tone down this otherwise very busy and dramatic powder room.
And yes, a better matching soap dispenser/dish and less clutter on the already small vanity would help pull together the high end look of this space.
Also, I do have concerns regarding your countertop material though. Any splashing will quickly result in a deteriorating finish.
