Freeform crocheted Marius
Materials: Marius, cotton yarn, foam rubber
Description: I have crocheted a free form motif with birds. The pattern to the birds can be downloaded free at the knit and crochet site ravelry.com.
I first crocheted two long tubes to cover the legs of the chair. Then I made the birds and crochet and sewed them together to a big circle, and at last I crochet around the piece to make it big enough to fit the plate. I added a piece of foam rubber to make the chair a little bit more soft to sit on, and then I wrapped it with the crocheted cover.

I love it.!Thanks for posting it. Inspired an idea for my crochet project. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally charming! Much more lively and exciting than the Ravelry project that was the source of the bird pattern. Thanks for providing the link though.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this and would totally buy it if they had it at IKEA
ReplyDeleteNot sure I could make one for myself though, but I might give it a try at some point!

ReplyDeletethanks for sharing

This looks totally lovely.
ReplyDeleteJust thought the effort might not be worth it, because the stool is the crappest thing I ever bought from IKEA – it's so unstable. But maybe that was just the one I got, dunno...
This is absolutely charming. The colors you selected, the placement of the birds, everything about it is just PERFECT. Love, love, love. I'm going to start crocheting birds right now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work - it's both technically and artistically impressive. It makes me think of latin-american fabric molas and Huichol yarn paintings. I love the vibrant colors you chose. I'm inspired to try creating something similar, but knitted (I haven't learned to crochet yet...). Thanks so much for sharing with us! <3
ReplyDeleteso cute! looking at it makes me smile! what an inspirational project. now i am looking at the sitting surfaces on the chairs and barstools at home in a different light - all the happy patterns i can potentially cover them with to make home more cheery. unlike you, i don't have your amazing crochet skills - it'll take me months / years to produce just one cover.
ReplyDeletelook forward to more crochet projects from you.
Simply beautiful. What a transformation!
