Scrabble Table

Another table to start off our week. This one I like, being a Scrabble fan. Jodie was about to get rid of this old $10 Ikea Lack table but decided it could be salvaged. And here it is.


She says, "I decided to experiment with it instead. I am a huge Scrabble fan, so I painted a functional scrabble board in the same color scheme as my den. I measured out and drew squares, then glued over the grid lines using Elmer's gel glue. I then spray painted the table, peeled the dried glue off, and used craft paint to fill in the colored squares."

    I might have left the glue, to hold the individual tiles in place. I get cranky when they slide around!

  5. You could also use auto pinstriping for cleaner lines, instead of the glue. It's cheap, you can find it at Walmart or Autozone, and I use it for all sorts of stuff!!

  9. I love the idea and love that it is customized to fit the room decor, but I would really love this even more if the lines were straight. A little tape would have gone a long way. Still, it's a great idea!

  11. it would be even better with straight lines and if each square was ground out out provide a dip for the tiles to sit in, then paint and varnish it.

    I agree, a place to keep the pieces and the dictionary, gluing the tile holders in place, and possibly having a way to remove the legs if one wanted to place it on a table or take it with.

    Still a nice hackea

  12. Actually not having the lines straight makes it kinda fun. I love this hack. I wish that I didn't get rid of my tables now.

  15. just glue a board on the table and find a pouch/bag to attach to the side for game pieces. not sure what to do with any dictionaries...maybe find a a shelf thing to attach to the bottom edge for the books.
