Skogsta “Chopping” Desk

skogsta-desk

I really wanted a desk in the style of the Skogsta series. I decided to take the Medium Skogsta chopping boards to produce a functional writing/laptop desk. The hex bolts were just my style choice but the holes could be left if the MDF is cut short a little bit.

Materials:

  • 4 x Skogsta Chopping board
  • 1 x piece of MDF panel 6′ x 15 1/4″ x 3/4″
  • 4 x Iron Hair Pin Leg (26″)
  • 4 x 3/4 Hex Bolt
  • 4 x 3/4 Hex Nut
  • 4 x 3/4 Washer
  • 24 1 1/2″ screws

Final cost: $120 ish

Any of the Skogsta cutting boards can be used depending on the size of table/desk you want. The MDF panel can be be cut a bit shorter than the total length if you don’t want to put bolts through the block’s holes.

Line up the desired location for each chopping block. Lay the MDF on top of the blocks and screw the MDF into the blocks with the screws. If you want the bolts you will need to drill through each block hole and into the MDF to to make way for the hex bolts. Secure the hex bolts with the washers and nuts. Screw the hair pin legs into the MDF/Chopping blocks.

The legs of a Skogsta stool could also be used in place of metal legs for a nice coffee table/desk.
