Modern LEGO Table Hack

I saw other LEGO table hacks of this on another site but it was too colorful, very small and would not fit my home decor. I made a modern LEGO table in a clean, simple design. It has bins that I’ve added with custom handles for a lot of storage.

This table is all IKEA elements except for the LEGO plates on top.

Modern Lego Table IKEA LACK table hack

IKEA List:

  • LACK Coffee Table 25x22x18″
  • Metal towel rack 22″ plus screws
  • Magnetic Strip
  • 4 metal spice canisters
  • Hanging buckets Green and white
  • 4 VARIERA Box, white 13×9″ and 2 9×6″ 4 Green IKEA Handles

Other materials:

Tools:

  • Drill
  • Wood Glue
  • KrazyGlue
  • Screws
  • Ruler
  • Marker

Step 1: Assembly of IKEA LACK table

Follow assembly instructions of the IKEA LACK coffee table. On one side of the table, add the magnetic strip following IKEA instructions.

On the other side, attach the towel rod with screws. (The BYGEL rail is discontinued. Replace with the SUNNERSTA rail instead. After installing the rail, hang the SUNNERSTA container off the rail.)

Step 2: Glue on the LEGO base plates

I recommend using wood glue on both the back of the LEGO base plates and table.

It’s very important NOT to push the plates together to dry. For accurate spacing, use LEGO blocks to connect the plates. Let glue dry overnight.

Step 3: LEGO brick storage

Attach the IKEA plastic handles to large white boxes with KrazyGlue. Be sure to measure so that each handle is in same place on all bins. Fill them up and insert all the bins into the shelf below the table top. You can choose to sort and organize your LEGO bricks according to color or type or size. Your kid can pull out the bins and start building their LEGO dreams!
