Hackers Help: Can I put the NORSBORG chaise on the other side?

norsborg chaise on the left?

Hello talented hackers

I have a question that Ikea can’t answer for me.  If I buy NORSBORG Sofa and chaise (Article Number: 591.390.43) am I going to be able to put the Chaise on the left, rather than on the right as it appears in the catalogue?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, you can put 3 chaises together. But yes& no on the arms. The arms do t do anything structural, but they do cover up the wood that is visible where the arms are attached. So you’ll need to hack the chaise cover somehow to go armless. ;)

I don’t know why they weren’t able to help you considering they have both a sofa and a loveseat configuration with a chaise at each end as well as a double chaise (two side by side). And they have a stand alone chaise configuration that has arms on both sides. From looking at the assembly instructions. It may be because they were looking at the assembly instructions, which seem to be the same for all of them and doesn’t include anything about how to do the different configurations. It looks like the holes that are used to attach the arm are the same ones that are used to mount the hangers for the sofa/love sections on the opposite side. It seems to be interchangeable.

If you look at the assembly instructions for both the sofa and the chaise, the connecting holes on the edges of the sofa, chaise and the arms line up. So you should be able to place the chaise on either side, or even place 2 chaises side by side, or 2 sofas etc. The arms slip into 3 holes on either side, and the couches connect together with u-shaped =brackets.

Yes you can! We have this and the different sections bolt together on whichever side you choose. We’ve alternated sides for the chaise depending on room configuration.

I think the sofa can be assembled with the chaise on either the left or right side. To me, NORSBORG seems to be a modular serie. If you look in the assembly instruction (available as pdf-download), you can see, that the armrests and the seatings are separate and it schould be possible to mount the chaise on either side you want.
    Hope this is helpful.

You absolutely can, no hack involved. Arms are separate “boxes” that bolt on to the ends of the sofa or the chaise. The chaise can attach to either side of the couch bed, very simple. We have one and the only thing I’d add that is more of a “hack” is to put an additional leg at the inner corner, where the sofa bed meets the chaise. It’s a little bouncy with just two legs at each end.
