IKEA POLARVIDE Blanket Coat – Poncho

A blanket coat or poncho from a Polarvide throw by IKEA.


A warm, cheap and very easy to make blanket coat.


1 Polarvide throw


Ruler/ Measuring tape


Just cut it according to the dimensions above. Seal the cut edges with tailor tape and you’re done. Snuggle in your blanket coat.

    The instruction pattern is clear, but what is tailor tape? I see only pictures of measure bands.

    I know a poncho doesn’t have arms. The photo markings made it confusing. Typically dotted lines indicate cut marks when there are scissors icons on them and solid lines with arrows on each end indicate measurements between two points. (I’m an engineering CAD tech by trade.) Thanks for the link to the video. That clears it up.

    The instructions don’t match the final product. The cut illustrations and use of seam tape are to make arms for a coat. There are no instructions how to cut for the neck hole of the pictured poncho, which does not have arms.
