HELMER & ÄTRAN Computer Accessories Storage Cabinet

HELMER & ÄTRAN Metal Computer Accessories Storage Cabinet

My storage solution for computer-related accessories:

  • 4 x HELMER
  • 1 x ÄTRAN
  • 2 x RILL (wheels)

Painted all HELMERs black in a special furnace. (at the time only red, white and grey were available).

Attached everything together using screws, nuts and bolts. The Ätran cabinet is attached to the side of the HELMER stack.

Wheels are much sturdier than the regular ones HELMER is shipped with.

A friend of mine works at an industrial plant and put them in a big “furnace” where objects are sprayed with paint at high temperature.

It looks so good in black!!! What exactly did you use to paint it black?
    Thanks!

Did not get a chance to take pics during the actual building. But here are some after shots: http://postimg.org/gallery/35bp6e50i/

There is enough room. I’m not sure exactly if it’s the same standard worldwide, but I believe the bolts and nuts are called “metric 3″

This looks great, but I was curious how you actually secured them together. You say that you “attached everything together using screws, nuts and bolts,” but can you post some pics of that part? Would love to see how, as I’d worry about messing up the exterior or blocking some drawers. :-)

    No, no personal online presence.
I did just clean the drawers and I took a picture – don’t know why, probably waiting for you to ask for it :)

Mostly old stuff (ZIP drive, USB floppy, 1994 SNES, 56K Modem), batteries and a lot of cables and adapters.

I’d love to see what other computer goodies you have in the drawers.
Do you have your own blog/flikr to show more of what’s inside?

  7. deep42 says:

No, everything assembled after the paint job was done.

Looks great in black! Did you assemble any of the pieces before powdercoating, or was all assembly done afterwards?
