Ikeanemometer 2.0

Materials:  Six Blanda blank serving bowls

This Ikeanemometer 2.0 only has Ikea parts in its rotating structure. The center part is a 36 centimeter Blanda Blank stainless steel serving bowl. Four 28 centimeter serving bowls are attached to it. Luckily, I still had some 4 centimeter bowls lying around, so I could use one of them to hold the green glass marble on top. For some reason, Ikea no longer sells the 4 centimeter bowls. Then again, I never really understood the purpose of them (unless you want to serve someone a single peanut).

It all sits on a red cast iron column. An old bicycle wheel hub allows for smooth rotation. In fact, the ikeanemometer is almost always in motion. It needs very little wind, probably because of the sheer size of the contraption.

Oh that’s fun! Kind of a kinetic sculpture for your garden, and the red post sets it really well.
I thought the 4cm bowls were for individual servings of sauce to go with your food. Or maybe they’re for people who like to imitate cooking shows that pre-measure the ingredients into little dishes. I don’t really know.
