This is a birthday-present for a two-year-old li´l princess. When she saw the unequipped table first time, she asked instantly for the crayons. Strike!

LÄTT table with two chairs.
BYGEL bar and cups.
BLECKA hooks.
MALA paper-roll.
piece of a broomstick.
drawer made of canvas, hardboard, hotglue, some screws and two magnetic catches.
painting and decoration: white prime coat and semi-gloss acrylic paint („leaf green“ and „kiwi“).
desktop sealed with silicone-rubber.

  1. Hi, on the rod that holds the paper, I see a thinner section that rests on the hook and then it looks like there is some sort of end cap on the very end of the rod outside of the hook. How do you do that if you don’t have a lathe and have basically no woodworking experience? Thanks!

    1. Hi Laurie, big sorry for a late answer !!!!
      Yes, you are right, there is a thinner section on the rod to keep it in position when used and to fit in the hook. It is simply carved with a knife and a small saw … no cap, no lathe used. With really no woodworking-skills hard to do. But you could cut the rod a little bit shorter and screw something on it (a wooden disk?) to hold it in position. In this case you should use a thinner rod at all – to fit in the hooks. Hope you will find a way to do it. Thanx for interest. Hugs Basil

    1. Hi, Claire,
      I try to explain as good as possible (for me):
      First you make a shallow box (I made it in canvas (the sides) and a thin board (the bottom) – for lightweight and stability). Then you fix one rim of this box with a stripe of canvas on the underside oft the tableboard (heatglue and/or tiny screws). Then (or better: when you built the box) you fix the magnets on the other rim of the box. Then you mount the opposite magnets on the underside oft the tableboard. Finally you decide how low the „drawer“ should drop down/open – and you mount a stop: also a stripe of canvas on each side oft he box.

  4. Oh, this is gorgeous! The combination of paper and the crayons magazine is a real gem. A good friend of mine has a daughter of 4 years of age and she started drawing excessively recently, I think she would love this. Thank you for the inspiration!

  5. In fact, under the desktop there is a drawer (with a simple magnetic-lock) for finished artwork. You can see it only on the not published pictures I posted. But this was the idea: a hidden drawer – also to have enough space under the table, to sit and work comfortable. Greetings from Basil to all hackers and interested persons.
