Vittsjo Laptop Table to Upscale Side Table

Materials: Vittsjo Laptop Table

Description: Inspired by the stylish “C” shaped side tables from stores such as West Elm and Crate & Barrel, we turned the Ikea Vittsjo laptop table into a beautiful wood topped side table.

We removed the glass top that came with the Vittsjo, and replaced it with a dark stained wood top that sits on top of the frame. It is secured with a few screws through the original glass brackets. It is finished with several coats of furniture wax and buffed to a shine. It is the perfect side table in our cozy living room, and can be moved over the arm of the sofa to hold a beverage, or to work on a laptop.

I made this! It turned out great, however I wasn’t as lucky on the wood price as you were. I ended up getting butcher block for $28 (enough for two tables). Also, I ended up using Liquid Nails to attach the wood top, because the butcher block can split easily.

    Thanks for the post!

I love it! I’ve been eyeing this type of tables for a while in the fancy stores but it’s just over my budget. Where did you get the wood top? Did you cut it to size yourself? Thanks for sharing!

Spray painting the frame could also offer a wide variety of great color combinations.

Looks great! Maybe not a real hack, but looks more designer-y like this! :)
