Kid’s Built-In Wardrobe Closet

Materials: STUVA storage combination, mdf, pine trim

Description: A neighbor showed me this site when I was looking to build a custom built in wardrobe for my daughter. I am glad he did. What a time saver using the IKEA STUVA storage system was!

I started by building a base out of 2×4 lumber, placed the STUVA systems on the 2×4′s and added a custom storage area on top of the storage units that was made out of MDF.

After that, I put trim around all of it to match the existing trim in the house. Holes were drilled into the sides of the STUVA units for the adjustable shelving. An oak desk top between them finished off the project.

If I may ask how much did this cost about? My daughter has a small room and I’d love to create a space like that for her so she has the storage in the area that she needs. Currently her room has no closet what so ever and I was looking to create something like this that would not take up that much room and look absolutely amazing. You did an amazing job

Thanks for the compliment. I had about $700 into it. $450 of that was the Ikea Stuva wardrobes. $250 in materials. Could’ve gotten away with less, but I decided on getting the base trim custom made to match the house and that ran about $90. I had the oak desk top laying around so that was free.

I am looking for the doors and drawers you used and I see them online only in brown. Do you know if the white was recently discontinued? Or did you paint them or use some door other than the Stuva Bestad? Looks great!
