Photo: IKEA.com

Materials: HEMNES 3 drawer chest

Description: HELP ME ! I’m moving and I’m trying to dismantle my Ikea bookcase. I can’t get or figure out how to get the drawers out of the slides, so I can dismantle the rest of the bookcase.

Thank you

simply pull it completely out and lift the drawer front upwards. You should now be able to pull them out

There may be a little tab to depress. It will be plastic, and located at the end of the slide. I assembled a few Hemnes dressers for a friend several years ago and that’s how I recall them working.

they have a security on them, so u have to lift and slant .. see manual and do the opposite .. it’s a nack but quite easy .. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/assembly_instructions/hemnes-chest-of-drawers__AA-604009-3_pub.pdf

You mean you’re just trying to remove the drawer from the frame? You just pull it out all the way and angle it downward, while lifting slightly up over the wheel and off the slide. However, to pull it out all the way, you may need to help it over a couple small stops, lifting up slightly to allow it to roll over these, while it rolls out. Does that make sense? Really, it’s far less complicated than you’re thinking it is. If you can’t get it at first, play with it a little, lifting and angling, and you’ll probably get it out fairly easily. However, usually the backs are nailed on, so it’s unlikely you can dismantle the frame. Instead, you could pack the drawers, take them out to load the frame, put them back into frame in truck, do same upon arrival at destination. Good luck!

Two different type of slide: one is a simple version (as noted in the reply on 20 March) – which are a simple slide-out, angle and lift. The other sort is more complicated – which I ahve been battling with; these have a ‘security’ lock on them that prevent easy removal (presumably to stop toddlers from being crushed by falling drawers!). I haven’t figured how to remove the slides from the drawers, so have just unscrewed the whole assembly – I’ll repost if I find a way to do it more gracefully!

I need help figuring out how to fix my screw up. I assembled the drawers incorrectly and now need to take them apart in order to assemble them correctly. Does anyone have any advice for dismanteling the drawers for the Hemnes dresser? I fear that if I try to remove the plastic nails that hold the dresser together it will create more of a problem making the holes too big when I try and reassemble. Another thought was to drill new holes to attach the roller track and attach a washer to make it hold tight. Any ideas?
