A bowl becomes a dome


Materials: Blanda bowl, door knob

Description: A small burrow was made very slowly by a drill into the middle of the bowl's bottom for the knob. Good idea, minor hacking.

    1. Glass domes in the summer create local heaven for fungus. Lace domes are much better and can be folded.

    2. Fungus takes 10-12+ hours to grow.....I'm sure most people consume their meal well before that happens.

      I think this is an awesome hack and reminds me of the glass cake dome my grandmother had!!

      What kind of drill but did you use?

Love this - and I guess you can change the knob (single knobs are cheap/free and there's such a variety), to boost the status of deserts... a cut glass knob for elegant dinner party .. or floral for a girl's birthday cake (display the cake AND not have impatient little fingers in the icing). I recall my Mom 'displayed' desert enticingly on the sideboard so I'd see the reward for eating my vegetables!

  6. Dear All, thank you for the comments,ideas and pins. The process needs time and tolerance. Use glass specific drill bit, nr 5, work very very slowly. As the bowl warms up stop for some minutes and go on. Next time I may use a strong glue... Otherwise we love it, easy to clean, covers home made cakes or fruits. (It does not work till the cake is hot.) The only problem for me to find a place in my kitchen unit. Regards, Kiki
