Materials: Stolmen poles + wood
Description: After carefully deciding the sizes of the shelves and of the "working station", (sketchup plan appeared pretty useful to avoid mistakes) I cut/sand/tint in teak color/varnished each part from one 5' x 5' cherry wood board bought at a local shop. I made them a kind of back to avoid the books from falling off since it was going to be used as a room divider.
Boring white Stolmen poles were turned to black with spray paint.
I added two black desk leg from Ikea also to provide more stability.
The whole unit was finally assembled according to Ikea Stolmen instructions.
Tadam ! Multi-purpose unit whit a vintage twist.

ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to mount the shelves? The Stolem mounting fixtures?
ReplyDeleteyes I used the stolmen fixtures that i also painted in black. for the desk i added two legs in the front, but theyt were already black. i used regular enamel pray paint but i think the epoxy spray can would have been more appropriated.
DeleteYes, those are the Stolmen clamps. He just painted them black.
DeleteIs it possible to just buy the pole sections of stolmen without buying the shelving part?

ReplyDeleteI am very much in the market for a cool standing desk and this looks like it might be a cool option.
