Hacker help: Where to find Broder Clones?
Materials: Border Shelves
Description: I purchased some Broder Shelves and arms expecting to pick up the posts and feet at another store. After making the purchase I was told that this line was being discontinued.
So now I have the perfect shelves for my closet, but no way to mount them. Any idea where I can find posts that would be compatible with the Broder line?
Thanks
~ Scot, Texas

Same trouble in Russia :)
ReplyDeleteBroder is getting discontinued? Do we know that for a fact, or is it just something a store employee said?
ReplyDeleteI've had good luck finding discontinued IKEA items on eBay.
ReplyDeleteSorry I don't have an answer for you but what is the name of those hooks? I need those!
ReplyDeletesame thing in Portugal... in what world do those guys in ikea live in... i want broder back...
ReplyDeleteIt's the same in Germany.
ReplyDelete@JimmyJamm_: such hooks (maybe only similar ones) are offered with the stolmen-system (in europe/germany)
ReplyDelete@Scot: Maybe a look to heavy-duty storage-systems help, but the ikea-things more or less copy the system, not the dimensions of materials - it´s for (more or less) home-usage only.
at least another system has to be hacked for using the broder-parts.
(i watched out for broder-parts to build a bike-stand - so: nearly the same problem here)
Thanks...I'm trying to make the bike stand as well (in Canada). The parts from idea on here that I was trying to follow are no longer available. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteFor those asking about the image, you can find more details here:

I've had a couple employees tell me border is getting discontinued/replaced.
Dutch comfort, they had been planning to discontinue Broder two years ago already. I have Broder in my basement, and comparing my shelves with their actual programs, I would recommend Stolmen.

Scott...They have the posts and feet at the Round Rock store and the Houston store. You can check stock for any pieces you need on the Ikea USA website. Might be time for a road trip if you really want these. :)

Select Round Rock or Houston and click the ok button. A drop down box with a stock status bar graph will appear. Then click the 'Click here to view stock prognosis' link to see how many of that part are in stock. You'll have to check each part you need that way, a bit clunky but it will let you know if they have everything you need.
Becca, that looks like the extension post that has to be used in conjunction with a post like the one featured here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30117126/
DeleteI am looking for the 80.25" post. All they have is the 39". I guess I could try and figure out a way to bolt 2 sections of the shorter posts together
When I was considering the Broder system a couple years ago I checkout out Home Depot, Lowe's, etc for any interchangeable parts and it looked like the Broder spacing was unique to IKEA. Same thing with Antonius. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYes, broder has been discontinued. Few months back, I did an entire wall of my garage with broder. It was a daunting task to get all the parts as some were already discontinued. I subscribe to their text message service which send you a text as soon as your desired item comes back in store at the store of your choice. As soon as got the text message, I rushed to the store to get last few items for my configuration, only to find that there are none. I was disappointed but the staff was helpful, they located those items from the shelves which are way too higher up in the air ( not for customer access) and brought them down and provided me with the items.
ReplyDeleteI got a couple shelf holders. If anyone needs em. Email to waterfish88@Gmail.com
