Hacker help: Where to find Broder Clones?

Materials: Border Shelves

Description: I purchased some Broder Shelves and arms expecting to pick up the posts and feet at another store. After making the purchase I was told that this line was being discontinued.

So now I have the perfect shelves for my closet, but no way to mount them. Any idea where I can find posts that would be compatible with the Broder line?

  5. Ralph says:

I have two long standards that I’d swap for the wide shelf brackets that go in both directions. I’m in Canada, but have a box in the US (ND). I’d also buy some of the brackets outright if available.

    • Ron Taylor says:

Although nearly a year later, if you still need wide shelf brackets, I’d like to swap for the standards.

  6. Carey Holman says:

Can’t believe Broder is gone. Loved those shelves. Strong with minimal space required for the supports leaving shelves wide open and useable. No floor footprint at all, meaning I can store large items directly on the floor underneath with no shelf standards or supports to get in the way. I REALLY want Broder back, or something like it.

  12. Tanner says:

Take a look at the container store’s elfa shelving

    • Elfa is nice, but much much more expensive then Broder.
It is not as rugged looking than Broder too.
Broder has it’s own look and feel, price wises and floor-ceiling post are great !!
      Thank you for suggesting_

  13. Louis says:

    Broder was, sob…. a great system !!
I’ve use Broder to have an open pantry in the hallway, to hold my BW speakers each on a post at a desire height and direction(with a minimal footprint of 16 sq cm, a total price of 72$ Can for both), to make an home office desk (totally modulable) with four shelfs over my desktop(made of a clean and resistant grey kitchen surface) for under 325,$ Can., to make two twin beds for my kids at 2 m. high head to head and their respective desk under the beds…. Am-I a fan ? Yes !
This system is underrated and for “the rest of us” a fantastic modular system for a brat price !
Please IKEA, bring my Broder (sic) back !!
I still need two Broder posts, the one with the square rubber to extend my child installation ?!…
    Anyone ?
I’m in Montreal. Best regards, Louis

      • Barb says:

Hi Paula.. I’m interested in at least 4 shelves, if you still have them. If the price is right, I’d take all 5. Thanks so much..

      • djk says:

Hey Paula, I would be very interested in your border shelves if you still have them. I have a pretty big broder install and am try hard not to have too replace the whole thing for want of a few shelves. Thanks

  17. Paola says:

I have the same problem in Italy.
The item has been discontinued. I bought 4 years ago an entire broder wall of about 4 mt. Now it needs to be moved to another room and I need to buy the T feet but no result.
I hope to find something used on the eBay

  18. Anonymous says:

I got a couple shelf holders. If anyone needs em. Email to [email protected]

  19. Anonymous says:

Yes, broder has been discontinued. Few months back, I did an entire wall of my garage with broder. It was a daunting task to get all the parts as some were already discontinued. I subscribe to their text message service which send you a text as soon as your desired item comes back in store at the store of your choice. As soon as got the text message, I rushed to the store to get last few items for my configuration, only to find that there are none. I was disappointed but the staff was helpful, they located those items from the shelves which are way too higher up in the air ( not for customer access) and brought them down and provided me with the items.

  20. Unknown says:

When I was considering the Broder system a couple years ago I checkout out Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc for any interchangeable parts and it looked like the Broder spacing was unique to IKEA. Same thing with Antonius. Good luck!

  21. Becca says:

Scott…They have the posts and feet at the Round Rock store and the Houston store. You can check stock for any pieces you need on the Ikea USA website. Might be time for a road trip if you really want these. :)

Select Round Rock or Houston and click the ok button. A drop down box with a stock status bar graph will appear. Then click the ‘Click here to view stock prognosis’ link to see how many of that part are in stock. You’ll have to check each part you need that way, a bit clunky but it will let you know if they have everything you need.

Dutch comfort, they had been planning to discontinue Broder two years ago already. I have Broder in my basement, and comparing my shelves with their actual programs, I would recommend Stolmen.

  23. Scot says:

For those asking about the image, you can find more details here:

I’ve had a couple employees tell me border is getting discontinued/replaced.

  24. JimmyJamm_ says:

Thanks…I’m trying to make the bike stand as well (in Canada). The parts from idea on here that I was trying to follow are no longer available. Thanks again!

  25. Anonymous says:

@JimmyJamm_: such hooks (maybe only similar ones) are offered with the stolmen-system (in europe/germany)

@Scot: Maybe a look to heavy-duty storage-systems help, but the ikea-things more or less copy the system, not the dimensions of materials – it´s for (more or less) home-usage only.
at least another system has to be hacked for using the broder-parts.

(i watched out for broder-parts to build a bike-stand – so: nearly the same problem here)

  26. JimmyJamm_ says:

Sorry I don’t have an answer for you but what is the name of those hooks? I need those!

  27. Thomas says:

    It’s the same in Germany.

  28. Anonymous says:

same thing in Portugal… in what world do those guys in ikea live in… i want broder back…

  29. I’ve had good luck finding discontinued IKEA items on eBay.

Broder is getting discontinued? Do we know that for a fact, or is it just something a store employee said?
