IKEA EXPEDIT BOOKCASE - industrial chic makeover


Materials: EXPEDIT

Description: An old black EXPEDIT got a new industrial chic look

1. Sand down the bookcase
2. Apply primer. I used a water based one, let it dry overnight.
3. Apply 3 coats of paint.
4. To style, add stamps, patina gel, wood wax, labels.

    This is an inexpensive shelving thing disguised as an expensive shelving thing that, in turn, is industrial waste/chic.

    I love the use of label holders and the smudged number on the side.

    so did you actually only sand down the original black coat and got this look or does the wooden look come from the paint you applied?

    I am also very curious if you sanded down the entire thing to the wood (how long did that take!?) and what kind of paint you used. Your response will be really helpful!
