Home Office In A Box

Materials: Ikea table, steel tabletops, computer tower desk trays

Description: I had to surrender my home office to make room for my new baby boy ;) I took an Ikea stainless steel kitchen “work table”, some Ikea computer tower desk trays, two steel tabletops, and two grated steel shelves to make an “office” that I could pack away into a closet.

p.s. I’ve still been looking for my old Ikea catalog that features the items I used so that I can submit the exact design models that I used.

See a higher res image of the build.

I’d like to know if this Home Office In a Box can be bought, or if construction plans can be made available. It’s adorable. I’d love one for my office, bought or something I can build whose plans I’d be happy to purchase.

Whole thing looks like gates computer back in 1975. I want one. Needs a secret cupboard so you can turn into a bar after hours.

I like the patent pending at the end. Make sense on why instructions weren’t given for this work of art.

This is such a comprehensive hack, great work. Could you please give details on your temperature sensing and ventilation systems, as I’m undetaking a hack on the Expedit range of cabinets for a complete home entertainment system and I’m having difficulty in sourcing suitable items, as heat will be a major problem. I’ll document the hack when it’s finshed. Again a great hack.

Now just cover the outside in laminate wood, put a baby changing table on top and squeeze in a cat litter box next the cpu and double it’s awesome factor!!!

Well done! It looks like a lot of thought and work went into this clever project. If anyone is feeling entrepreneurial, I bet there would be a market for exactly this sort of device.
