Hacker help: Topper for the MÅNSTAD

Materials: MÅNSTAD sofa bed

Description: We’re looking for suggestions for a mattress topper for the Ikea the MÅNSTAD sofabed as my boyfriend’s teenage son will be coming to stay for extended periods of time. Thoughts or suggestions to make it more comfy?

The Zerbey’s actual had the same problem and decided that a queen size memory foam mattress topper was the best option.

I would use an inflatable air mattress……

I was going to say mattress topper and put it in a duvet cover to keep it clean.

Absolutely, a memory foam mattress topper. My fiance slept on a sofa bed for several years quite comfortably with a nice thick memory foam topper. I’m convinced that those things can make a bed of rocks relatively comfy.

I use the same sofabed when I stay over at my mom’s house.
I just put an old, worn out duvet under the sheet. For me this is very comfortable.

I’ve used a duvet as a cheap mattress topper on uncomfortable beds before now and it’s worked well.

The obvious answer is to use a Duvalay

I have this sofa and find that it’s quite comfortable on its own as long as your head is at the right end. Even with a topper he’ll want to make sure and put his feet at the end with the seam (where it juts out) as there is a hard wood section there. It’s unnoticeable when its at your feet but awful when it’s at your shoulders.

Ikea make a topper for it, although it’s more of a mattress protector, several of our guests have said it’s comfy enough for a couple of nights.

We use the Sultan Tarsta pillowtip from Ikea. It makes the bed a lot more comfortable and folds up into the chaise when we’re using it as a couch. Also, don’t know how long you’ve had your Manstad or how often it has been used as a bed, but ours has softened up considerably as we’ve used it more.

Related to the Mansted but not to your question: does anyone know if you can paint the fabric of this couch somehow? My 2 year old decided to use it as her canvas and so far any effort trying to clean it is without success, leaving the couch ruined.
