WHAT: ELIOOO is an instruction book about how to build a hydroponic system to grow plants, herbs, or vegetables in your apartment, using IKEA components.
WHY HYDROPONICS: Hydroponics is a clean, sustainable, and efficient way to grow vegetables using water instead of soil. Hydroponics has enormous advantages compared to traditional agricultural methods. It uses only 10% of the water needed with traditional agriculture, allowing for higher production in smaller spaces. Plants get nourishment directly from a nutrient solution mixed into the water. Consequently, the risk of pests present in the soil is avoided and plants receive the exact nourishment needed for optimal growth. With hydroponics you do not have to water your plants; you can maintain ideal conditions for growth, without worrying about watering and getting dirty

I just donated money... this is awsome...
ReplyDeleteto much space wasted in the construction.
ReplyDeleteIt uses to much power over the year for the pumps and maybe for lightning, the manufacturing of the syntheic material consumes power and oil and so on.
-> spare the money and go to the next organic store and buy there to help the local farmers to get their income.
It's easy as 1,2,3 -> buy local, buy organic, buy seasonal, stay healthy, help the local economy
If you have a garden -> yeah go ahead! self grown stuff is great! :-)
Some people want to grow their own herbs and small veggies but can't because they live in an apartment in the city. This gives them the chance to, so I don't see anything wrong with it. Organic farmers aren't the kind of people that rely on everyone's support anyway, they're doing really fine thanks to their EXORBITANT prices and government subsidies.
DeleteWhat a wonderfull idea! He has different designs, some use powers, others dont.
ReplyDeleteClear/white/opaque tubs and tubes aren't the best for this application. It'll look very dirty and unpleasant in no time as the light will promote algae growth.
ReplyDeleteThat's right. You can clean them with bleach but it's a huge waste of time.
DeleteThat structure is great but your plants will grow and you'll have to move them - you can always leave you letuces there; they'll be as confortable as a size 38 foot in a size 28 shoe.
Whoops, I meant translucent not opaque!
ReplyDeleteIt's a start to creating the change we want to see in the world. Keep inventing!!
