Lillangen TV unit

Photo: IKEA.com

Materials: Lillangen leg frame x6, drill, self-tapping screws

Description: My cable guy told me that my previous TV unit was not letting enough heat to vent out of my cable box, PS3, Xbox etc. So I had to look for something with a lot of airflow and still fit all my stuff.

The local Ikea had a sale on Lillangen leg frames for $5 CDN a pop. So I just started assembling 3 leg frames. Then I drilled the holes at the lower portion of the legs to install the horizontal pieces at the bottom. I did this to all 3 legs. Just for kicks I staggered them randomly.

Nice looking unit, and I love the dog sitting next to it.

    Great hack!

OT: What kind of dog is that? Looks like one I just rescued and having trouble identifying.

I am really interested in doing a version of this hack myself. I noted on ikea.com that these come in lots of different sizes so I am hoping to do a smaller version of this for wiis, hard drives and a roku. I am having some difficulty in seeing exactly what you did. What is the stuff sitting on? Any additional pictures or information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

  4. Well Lillangen is great option; it needs less maintenance than any other material and it look more attractive than qubee.
