KNUFF Transformable Coffee Table
Materials: KNUFF Magazine file X 4 sets, rotating artist stool, shelf insert, liquid nail.
Description: I was looking for the perfect coffee table for my mini seating/TV area inside my room, and after weeks of analyzing every Ikea's product, I finally came out with this hack.
The size of this KNUFF coffee table is great for singles where you don't need a huge coffee table, or to place it in your room where space is limited, and its just the perfect size for your cosy reading corner. And the best thing is all four sides can be used as drawer units for all your magazines, books, and controllers etc.
The KNUFF magazine file comes with 2 piece (one inside the other). You can use this feature to change the shape of the table anyhow you like. The KNUFF table is quite solid and sturdy and works just like any other tables. Just don't put dumbbells on it. :)
This is an easy hack for everyone with no heavy duty works involved. All you need is liquid nail to secure everything in place like in the picture, then screw your artist stool under it. If you don't have an artist stool, you can substitute it with a FROSTA stool and a SNUDDA Lazy Susan to make it rotatable.
Thanks for your time and hope you all like it!

Very creative, love it!
ReplyDeleteThe asymetrical shape of the Knuff makes for interesting possibilities...
mhmm... let me think, how could I use my Knuffs in new ways?
Very inspiring hack!
My first nominee for Hack of the Year! This is brilliantly simple.
ReplyDeleteLove it
ReplyDeleteCrazy cool!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, this is a great hack! Sure it has to go in the Hack of the Year candidates!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I am secretly hoping to see on IkeaHackers all year. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteGenius!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought a rotating wooden stool at IKEA in Germany a couple of months ago. Very cheap! You could use that instead of your "artist stool". But I do not remember its name and I can't find it on the IKEA website. Does anyone know about this stool? :S
FINALLY!!!! An inspiring hack. Sweet job!
ReplyDeleteIt's just 4 magazine files laid out to be a table top. This is too simple to be hack of the year compare to some serious work featured here. Don't think the stool is from ikea. Am I missing something here?
ReplyDeleteYou're missing that this is NOT a blog on craftsmanship, but rather a blog on creative ways for using / reusing IKEA's products (with the possible addition of other products / tools).
DeleteI think that using a (set of) magazine file(s) as a table top is creative, especially because of the artistic shape that imchaser gets out of them.
I agree, that the degree of difficulty of a hack should not be a qualifying factor in grading the quality of a hack. This website is not called IKEA handyman.
DeleteLook at 10 Best of 2011, there was a kitchen skimmer - soap dish hack that made it I believe to 3rd place and it competed against some seriously crafty hacks, but people who voted for it(I included) really appreciate out of the box creativity in combination with a great looking end product.
Superb !!!!!
ReplyDeleteFIERCE competition between this and the Frosta XYZ series. They have the awesome mock manuals and this has a page that looks right out from a page in the catalogue... lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree! These two are serious contenders for Hack of the Year. Well done - it's brilliantly creative and slap-your-face simple! I may just have to steal your idea for my living room :)
DeleteGreat idea! I may do this myself!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome - I love it! Might I suggest, if you can't find a suitable stool, Craigslist often has cheap or free swivel office chairs. Get one where the upholstery is thrashed, and just remove the seat top and use the base.
ReplyDeleteWow this table is amazing.... this is a great hack!
ReplyDeletebravo !
ReplyDeleteQuite creative, nice design and achievable by the average gal.
ReplyDeleteLove the scandinavian-industrial and playful look of this hack. Made me smile.
ReplyDeleteGreat Ideal! Im sooo gona try this!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hi all! Good Day!
ReplyDeleteWow, im humbled by all the great responses for my hack! Thanks for all the feedbacks and suggestions....
This simple hack was born because myself dont have anything handy like driller and cutting materials saw etc living in a small studio. So the process was as simple as possible, i guess thats whats make this hack so accessible. Any non-handyman can do it in the weekend as their little project and u have a nice mini table with storage at the corner of your room! Hugs.

DeleteCrazy cool!
ReplyDeleteI like it more when the material from Ikea is used in a different way in the hack than its original purpose.
So this blew my mind off.
This is a really great hack. I consider doing it, too.
ReplyDeleteEinrichtung at it's best.
Seriously brilliant.
ReplyDeleteSheer genius. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it too!
ReplyDeleteBravo!
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
ReplyDeleteIt's the simple yet brilliant ideas that I really respect. You have my vote for hack of the year!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Just thought I'd mention though that the Knuff magazine files are now listed as $9.99 for 2, not 4, on the IKEA website:
ReplyDeleteKNUFF
Hi actually the price $9.99 is for one set (one set consist of 2, one big one smaller inside), and u need 4 sets to make up the table top. Thanks for liking!
DeleteGreat idea, I'm gonna make one. I don't need it but, I just want it.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique...J'adore!!!
ReplyDeletevery creative!
