Materials: Bekvam Butcher’s Trolley

Description: Brian sneaks in an outdoor amp and an Apple AirPort Express into a Bekvam kitchen cart so that he can stream music from his iMac to his outdoor speakers while the barbecue sizzles.

Really cool hack. Are you planning on leaving this outside? The amp seems weather safe, but not so sure about the power strip/Airport Express.

Don’t mean to be a downer, but not sure I quite get the need to put all this outside…seems a bit unnecessary to me. Why not just put all the electronics inside and run the speaker wire out to the speakers? Then you don’t need to worry about weather, liquid spills on the block, and bugs hanging out underneath. I assume you’re controlling the setup over wi-fi from your iOS device, right? If so, it really shouldn’t matter if your gear is outside.

In any case, nice integration of electronics into the block!

I think the cable management could be better. it screams cable management.
