Jazzed Up Flyt Magazine Files

Materials: Flyt Magazine Files, Paint, Rope, Glue Gun

Description: I was in need of some new magazine files and was working on a shoestring budget, so my best option was the Flyt magazine files that came in 5 pack for $2.99. Since white was boring, I decided to give them a couple coats of paint. I then used a glue gun to apply sisal roping around the edges to cover the unfinished cardboard. They don’t look like they are cheap Ikea magazine files any longer.

The complete step by step process is available here.

I love this! At least the paint part. Not sure how I feel about the rope. But the idea of painting or altering in some way is great. I wonder if I could use wall paper or fabric…

I wish the pictures reflected the actual colour better. It’s not neon orange, it’s actually a bright coral. My camera apparently doesn’t like coral because it refuses to colour balance correctly to reflect the true colour.

    me, too.
    only orange.
but the idea is good and practiceable.

Sorry, but this combination simply does not work. Sisal rope and neon orange — just say no.

    Thanks for posting Jules!
