From Work Lamp to Wall Lamp

Materials: Barometer Work Lamp, Toggle Bolts

Description: We searched high and low for an inexpensive articulating wall lamp and had come to the realization that we were going to need to cough up some cash. Until one fated afternoon in Ikea. We both laid eyes on the Barometer Work Lamp at the same second and knew it was hacking fate. Mounting it was literally as easy as 1,2,3.

1. Remove the nut from the underside of the lamp and take the weight off.

2. Cut the cord and expose the braided wire, and hook that up to electrical box in your wall.

3. Drill for toggle bolts and anchor lamp to wall.

Bonus hack! The desk’s top is the Vika Byske, custom cut to fit our nook!

I can’t believe I’m the first one asking: anchor to the wall how? After the weight is removed, the base is empty, and there’s nothing to attach a toggle bolt to, short of drilling holes through the base. A more thorough description of the mounting process would be greatly appreciated.

Took me a while to notice what was actually DIY in the picture.

  3. DrewE says:

It would be wise when doing this to make sure a ground/earth wire is attached to the lamp body, possibly by securing it somehow to the nut that holds the base to the post of the lamp.

What are those cute pockets hanging on the wall and where can I get them?

Where did you get the idea for the desk/chair? I love it! Looks simple, yet classy.

The wall color is ‘creamy beige’ by Benjamin moore!

Aiiiii! You made me so happy! I did a research and already found the same colour in here. Thank you. I red your blog and you have one more follower. Bye.

Your hack is lovely. It gives a clean look to the room. I have a question for you: can you tell me or do you remember the number (or name or brand) of the colour on your wall? I would love to have it! I’m in Spain so the brand is only a guide line to search. It looks so good on the photo. Thanks!
