There's a leg in my wall
Materials: Vika Amon screw-able table leg
Description: My son wouldn't sleep in his bed. Nothing helped. Every night he would crawl into our bed, and as charming as that may be, I would often find myself cramped in his toddler bed back aching and head busy with finding a solution to these ongoing sleeping arrangement... Well one night an idea came up! Instead of shouting Eureka, I screamed Ikea....
The next day I went to the store and bought a simple office table leg (the one that has a screw-able leg Vika Amon), I screwed the plate onto the wall right above my son's bed, bolted the leg, and stretched a yellow cotton fabric over his bed (I tied the fabric onto the sides of his Ikea toddler bed). My son now has a tent he refuses to leave.... needless to say I got my bed back!
p.s. The leg can be easily removed when not in use, the plate, however remains on the wall and can be painted on - or covered see photos below.
See more of the over bed tent.

Is there enough air for the little one underneath this tent?
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is linen and besides, the tent is open on the side opposite the wall.
ReplyDeleteClearly the first person who posted has never slept outdoors in a tent. How do backpackers do it?! SUFFOCATION! People crack me up. She's not putting her kid in a trash bag tent.
DeleteYeah, I thought about replying similarly. To think, you would ZIP yourself into a tent, horrors!!!! But I flinch every time someone posts ANYTHING about a kids furniture hack. Someone will ALWAYS assume you've made a fatal mistake and are about to kill your kid. Every once in a while, someone makes a good catch, but it's usually someone who just needs to pop a chill pill and move along.
DeleteThanks for saying, I was going to say EXACTLY the same.
DeleteCotton first, Linen now?
DeleteSorry, my bad... It's linen
Deleteanyhow, both are breathable, so the issue is inexistent ;:-)
DeleteThe word is actually nonexistent. ;:-)
DeleteThat's a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteclever!!!
ReplyDeletesuper cute
ReplyDeleteYou are the BEST !
ReplyDeleteLove the cheerful yellow fabric! It looks like a real pup tent. :-) And a very cute room as well.
ReplyDeleteCute idea! Would be cute up high with fabric draped like you sometimes see on "princess" beds. Clever clever!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Whatever it takes to keep them in bed at night. :)
ReplyDeleteClever idea & I love the room too.
ReplyDeleteThe pole is too high for him to grab & swing on, which anyone inspired by this should note.
It gets pretty hot in Tel Aviv, so once he's asleep, you can push the tent off & get him some air.
Hope he doesn't feel hot inside his tent
ReplyDeleteWell it is completely closed in and small... so it must be stifling. WAKE UP!
DeleteLove the cheerful yellow color brightening up this mostly white on white room. Aahh, to be a kid again...

ReplyDeletethat's a brilliant idea, everyone is happy and no nard feelings :)
ReplyDeleteAAAAAHHH!
ReplyDeleteYour son will loose an arm in those ultra-dangerous cut-bowls!
He will suffocate with that fabric!
He will break his neck after hanging from the leg!
(just to be a little sarcastic)
Thanks for being creative and no having your son protected like an atom bomb. He will be not like a plant when he grows.
