Description: Convert a day bed to a comfortable toddler bed with changing table.
1. Cut the legs of the Sniglar changing table and paint the frame white.
2. Cut the excess length of the Hemnes daybed mattress and use this piece as a separator between the bed and the changing table.
3. If guests arrive, remove the Sniglar changing table and place the excess mattress back in place. It reverts back to being a full length day bed.

ReplyDeleteJust a reminder if you do something similar and have an infant, do not leave anything soft in the bed area with the infant, like the decorative pillows in the pictures, because they are a suffocation hazard! You should also make sure that the cut off portion of the mattress can't fall over on your baby. Perhaps some strong velcro?

ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is so clever! A great idea... it makes me wonder why something similar isn't offered by IKEA in the first place. A cot/changing table that can convert into a toddler bed/changing table, and then a full-sized bed seems like a brilliant piece of furniture to me!
You've executed it really well, and it doesn't look poorly made or dangerous, which most hacks for children on this site are!

It works fine with foam mattresses, but you can't do it with all types of mattresses. You do need to keep your feet on the shortest side of the mattress, then it should be comfortable. You don't want to have the cut where your shoulders are!

SO cute and functional! After the baby goes down for a nap, I'd want to crawl into the small part and read a book for awhile! I also love the decor scheme - all those lovely stripes!
