  7. I love this hack! However, I notice that there's a part not mentioned. What are the two rods shown at the back of the desk, between the stolmen chests? I'm not sure if those pieces are necessary or simply decorative.

    1. My guess is necessary. Without them, any attempt to move the desk (or just lean against it) would probably put too much stress on the capita brackets, and weaken the wood around the bolts.

    2. It's necessary. Furthermore it's ont à ikea product.

    3. what are those two rods? source? size?

  8. It would be awesome to see the desktop as frosted/tempered glass, so one could work on photo's, layouts...etc.

  10. 4" Capita legs put the desk at 29.875" or 75.9cm
6" Capita legs put the desk at 31.875" or 81 cm
8" Capita legs put the desk at 33.875" or 86 cm

Typical desk height is 30-32". Any desk with a keyboard drawer, the drawer is normally at a 27" height.

  11. For the rods, I would consider using a threaded rod and then put a shower road over top of it (assuming the lengths work out for the section of shower rod)

  12. Fantastic idea and amazing design - this will definitely be making an appearance in my new office! One small point. In the actual image there are 4 feet per unit on each side, in the instructions there are 2 - and I think all 4 are probably required. Just a heads up so no-one is disappointed when they grab the shopping list but need to make a return trip to Ikea.

Again, simply amazing - I love this idea.

  13. what Length is that top panel? is that the 78", 59", 47", or 39"

I would assume its the 78" Vika, since the drawers are 21" wide each, but im not sure.

  14. Please, you have a superb design which details everything except the two cross bars which appear to be vital. Might you include the item names for these?

    Much appreciated.

  17. In the picture, there is a monitor, but where is the CPU that goes with it?

  18. Bethany, I'm sure that the monitor is just the second display of the laptop.

  19. How many cm between the chests? = how long are the bars?

  20. I think you could eliminate the two rear horizontal bars by adding two more capita brackets at the inside rear corners of the chests facing in towards the center.

  21. This looks great but the total cost is £189!

    Table Top: £7
    Brackets: 2 x £10
    Chests: 2x £70
    Legs: 2 x £11

If you could replace the chests which make up the priciest bit for something cheaper you could make an awesome desk for very little
