A bed for your garden

Materials: One Ikea Bedframe

Description: 1. Take bed frame pieces that have been sitting in garage.
2. Remove all metal pieces
3. Dig trenches in soil
4. Hammer bed frame into soil, fill in edges
5. Dig post holes for head board posts, hammer into ground.
6. Plant vine (we used jasmine) and tape to head board to guide vines.
7. Enjoy!

  1. It's a neat idea to reuse a bedframe in this manner but in general you want to use untreated lumber when making raised garden beds to avoid having toxic chemicals leaked into the soil.

    1. A valid concern. I don't think this particular bed used treated wood. There are not any obvious signs (smell, color, etc). I guess we will see how the tomatoes taste in a few months.
