Solvinden Light-chain into ambient bicycle frame lighting

Materials: Solvinden solar-powered light chain

I wanted to give my bike something fresh and new for the upcoming springtime.

I spotted the solar powered light chain and thought that it could bring some ambient light to my bike.

After removing the plastic balls and cracking the plastic enclosure of the LED part I wrapped the white shrink tube with black duke-tape to make the LEDs more invisible. I mounted the solar panel at the back of the frame and mounted the rest of the cables with the LEDs with binders.

It took me about 30 minutes to do all the work.

I don’t know about other countries, but this can probably land you a fine in the Netherlands. We have very strict rules here about light on vehicles and you can only have 1 white light attachted to your bike on the front and 1 red light on the back.

Though I’m an avid cyclist, I’d go for something less of a ‘circus look’….. the idea is good though…

Hallo Rüdiger, das ist ein tolle Idee! Vor allem, weil du jetzt nachts gut zu sehen bist. Das finde ich besonders für Kinder wichtig und die finden diese Idee bestimmt super cool… DANKE fürs Teilen.
