Materials: Expedit (2x2), double sided adhesive tape (glue would probably work too), lego base plates, optional some laminated Lego posters
Description: In order to help my sons play together with LEGO, I made this LEGO playhouse.
They can sit or stand facing each other and play together. Plus all their creations are in one designated area. They absolutely love it!
I took a 2x2 Expedit and taped 32x32 base plates on each of the shelves with the strongest double sided tape I could find.
On top I taped two 48x48 base plates which together make a soccer field. Make sure to hold them together with some LEGO before taping, as to make sure there is no space between them.
To inspire them I laminated some Lego posters of their heroes and taped them on the inside.

I LOVE this! You could also add casters, but maybe the kids would get too wild with it. It's wonderful as it is and an inspiring idea that is very different than the other Lego tables I've seen. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI'll have to make one of those for my daughter. There's a 6 year gap between her and my son and he has plenty of table and spaces to play Legos his way. This will be perfect for her to do her own thing.

We seem to have cracked the lego storage system (a collection of categorised plastic boxes which steadily degenerates into the "pile") but seem to struggle with where to put the "made things" or "special people" or "No, that's really important - I'm still building it - even though I might not look at it again this month" parts.

Bazinga- this would work well for the Friends LEGO . Girls build and then role play...and play and play..so they like to keep it set up. Heartland Village takes up so much room!

I was wondering how the double sided tape is holding up? We made our train table in to a lego table for Christmas using glue and the pieces started popping off a month or so ago.
ReplyDeleteI made it in February and it is still good. The boys play with it practically daily. We did cover the bottom ends completely with the tape. For us it has worked. Hope it will work for you too.
