The obvious answer would be to take two As-Is tabletops, flip one on its side, drill dowel holes where they'll fit together and then fasten them with dowel pins. The only trick will be finding a tabletop wide enough to be the base support: this might involve buying three of the same tabletops and fastening two together to make the base.

ReplyDeleteUsing two ikea tabletops won't work without a base wide enough to support the table. You can see that there are two metal "feet" at the bottom of this table base. Maybe you can attach to Glant T legs to your table top and then cover them with two more table tops underneath (notched to fit the Galant legs inside the box created by the two table tops). The T part of the galant leg will stick out the bottom of your base at each end, something like the metal supports on this table. Hope this works.

forgot to add ...u will need to add suitable feet to the norden gateleg to prevent it from tipping over ...get suitable stainless steel covered plywood cut into size attach to bottom of norden gateleg
ReplyDeleteTwo table tops from the larger Lack coffee table, two lack floating shelves and one numerar table top. Build box with the two shelves and the two Lack coffee table tops. Top one open side with the numerar. Done.
ReplyDeleteI once had a table almost similar to this - loved it. It was square and the base more or less looked like a Lack table upside down. Maybe this thought can inspire you.

I'd love to have a kitchen table like this. Those chairs are great also. Ikea's selection of kitchen tables is poor.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking the large VIKA white tabletop attached to a white EXPEDIT 2 x 4, as the base. I realize it's not exact, but I think the cubes underneath provide a lot of possibilities for dish, tablecloth, other tableware storage, in nice boxes or straw baskets.

ReplyDeleteMetal "bones" = EKBY MOSSBY 79*19 cm x 2
Shortsides of the "box" = EKBY JARPEN 79*19 cm x 2 (you need to cut this to 75*19 cm)
Longsides of the "box" = VIKA AMON 150*75 cm x 2
Tabletop = VIKA AMON 120*60 cm * 3 (you need to get these 3 togheter to make one big)
The only thing that wasn't glossy was the shortsides .. :/ Will probably build this table !
