EXPEDIT Mobile Island
Materials: EXPEDIT Shelving unit, VIKA AMON Table top, ANTONIUS Shelf, CAPITA Bracket, LEDBERG
Description: I needed a mobile kitchen Island/table with Storage for the 423sq foot Vancouver Shoe Box I reside in. Taking inspiration from Expedit standing desks and tables on this site I grabbed a drill and some industrial Velcro this was the result.

Great idea, although I would probably suggest this type of island as a work station or a serving area, more than a dining area.
ReplyDeletethis is great! just add expedit wheels
ReplyDeleteThe floors in the apartment are polished concrete so I choose to go with felt footings that glide easy over the surface.
DeleteVery attractive hack -- looks sturdy and sleek and useful! Also like the art on the wall.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteJust curious why so many of your projects do not include pricing of items. It would help us as a community.
Very cool! A few questions: is the Vika Amon Table top removable from the Expedit? And did you have to cut the table top down to size at all?
ReplyDeleteYes the EXPEDIT separates, the Table top, VIKA AMON, ANTONIUS, CAPITA are one solid unit attached with industrial Velcro to the base EXPEDIT, The LED strip slides freely in the gap between the 2 shelf’s. So yes the unit can be broken easily in two, no cutting was required but you need to drill 4 holes the top of the EXPEDIT to allow the nuts that hold the brackets to the shelf’s space to recess.
