DRÄLLA lamellar armour

Materials: DRÄLLA cutting boards, GUNSTIG apron

Description: I made a brigantine style lamellar armour based on armour type “n° 17” excavated from the site of the battle of Visby.

The DRÄLLA cutting boards were cut with heavy duty scissors and the holes were made with a drill. The resulting plate segments were lashed together with cord.

Holes were made in the GUNSTIG apron and reinforced with brass grommets. The plates were secured to the apron with cords and toggles made from leftover bits of cutting board.

The purpose of the armour is for use as a lightweight extra protection layer during light contact forms practice.
