Description: 1. Saw off the bottom of both units to remove base.
2. Fix both to the wall.
3. Use a whole shelf vertically on the left (against the wall) to give a more finished effect.
4. Fit shelves screwing them from the inside of each cabinet.
The antique pine actually marries quite well with the oak of the Ulriksdal kitchen units.
Sorry about the mess in the kitchen. I'm not looking for a design award, just sharing an idea.

ReplyDeleteYour cabinets look fabulous and I love your kitchen, it's cosy and homely, not a bland, shiny space.
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea and I would perhaps use it for a cabinet above the sink. I like the idea of having a smaller, recessed or thinner cabinet above the sink with glass doors to display pretty (and small) dishes! It would be less in your face and since it's for display purposed mostly you wouldn't be opening it in front of someone's face while they're washing dishes.

The cabinets are an old model from about 5 years ago so they may not be available anymore. Maybe try ebay? Thanks again everyone - you've been very kind :-)

ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! We have a wall that I think would like those cabinets (or something similar, since those ones aren't available).
ReplyDeleteMy only "modification" might be to leave the base on and perhaps attach pegs for mugs, or a wood dowel for pretty towels or something.
The name has changed - try the 'leksvik' and 'vallvik' series. I just picked up three Vallvik bookshelves at my secondhand store for my budget kitchen refurb and I'm very excited about these cabinets now too!
