Ideas: An Organized Micke Desk
Materials: Almhult cutlery tray
Description: I bought a micke desk (width 55 7/8; depth 19 5/8; height 29 1/2). However, the drawers became cluttered. While walking through Ikea to get some inspiration and pick up a few items I found the Almhult cutlery tray ($2.99). I pick up two of these and trace my steps back to the work station exhibit to find a Micke desk to see if these trays would fit, and they did with space at the side. As you can see from my photo they are five compartments that allow you to store all your needs to have an effective work station.

not quite a hack (in my opinion), but it is a good idea...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Unfortunately I can't find it on their page (local: ikea.be). Do you have a product ref?
ReplyDeleteI found the trays in the Brooklyn Ikea store. A friend who also has a Micke desk could not find it on the online store either. Hence, I believe it may be a new item. The reference number on the side is 701.772.22 21731. These trays are great. My drawers are so organized and can find all my supplies. Also, these cutlery trays are much cheaper than the desk organizers I have seen in certain stores. / Liza
ReplyDeleteGreat idea ! My Micke draw is such a mess. In europe i think they're the RATIONELL ones, they look the same ... that's on ikea.fr so ikea.be must be the same !
ReplyDeleteThe Rationell cutlery tray could be an option but I found them to be very small in size and my desk would have become cluttered again. However, the Almhult cutlery tray is much bigger in size (approximately 20" by 14") and the compartments are also bigger in size. Everything has a place. I should have posted a photo of the tray empty. /Liza
ReplyDeleteOh ok, I thought RATIONELL might be the same, looks the same. There are some products we can't get from one continent to the other. I'll have to try the rationell then ... Damn !
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of different rationell ones: http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/categories/departments/kitchen/20625 - browse through those pages. There is even one item you can make your own "walls" with.
