Use three green Curver under bed containers with cover under your Ektorp if you have 13 cm. space under your sofa. Other old versions have 9 cm. space, then it doesn’t work.
Leave the wheels behind (easy to remove) and the containers with cover will fit under your sofa.
When using the containers your might have to help the sofa a little bit and lift him up.
I bought the containers second hand (Euro 15,00 totally) and were less cheaper than buying in the shop. You don’t have to change anything under the sofa and you have simply more covered storage.

Bought all the supplies but can’t find H profiles any where. So disappointed. Will probably end up just sliding the bins under the couch. NOT what I wanted. What do ya do?

I found H-channels online. I googled “PVC H-channel profiles”. Make sure they’re 10 millimeter or at least 0.4 inch. I also noticed another hack that said the Pax plastic containers and Trofast containers are interchangeable. So, I would think the rails to the Pax drawers would work for under the sofa. I’m just trying to find a way to attach the Pax rail to the sofa. Comment if you work out a solve :)

I bought the trofast containers too, and they won’t fit under my ektorp. did you buy a higher leg?

  4. Debbie says:

where did you buy the h profile?

Bought containers to do this and the trofast don’t fit under our ektorps…had you raised the lounge previously or do we in Australia have shorter feet/legs than elsewhere? :(

    Hello all,

I forgot to tell that i also put a small
    wood shingle of 35 mm x 15 mm x 2m on the
middle beam on the bottom of the sofa,
This to get the same heigth as the front of the sofa.
So that the Trofast containers are leveled.

    Kind regards,

Great hack! I hope that will work with my Karlstad too…

Wow now this is a brilliant hack and I think it might help a lot of people about storage if you think how many ektorps are sold each year :)

Looking at the assemble instructions for the sleeper version of the Ektorp, it would appear that the sleeper part of the sofa occupies this storage space, which is not surprising, it has to go somewhere :)

I’m new to the idea of Ikea Hacking, but love your idea. Where do I go to get H profile trim? Hardware shoe or also at Ikea?

    Nice hack !
I don’t think this would be possible with the sleeper version, well not if you ever use the bed … Because when you fold it back into place it would probably break the fixations for the trofast storage.

Thank you for sharing! I just checked – I don’t have the Ektorp, but the very same concept will work for our couch. Brilliant idea!

Very nice idea, we have also the same sofa but the sleeper version. Its such a damn nuisance to open for sleeping that noone ever bothers, so I am also interested if this might work with the Sleeper Sofa.

    Great idea!
Any idea if this would work with the Ektorp Sleeper Sofa?
