Description: Instead of gluing on coffee filters, I sewed on muffin cases.
I used a running stitch around the support canes, quite loose. The muffin cases were scrunched up a bit, and I tried to avoid being precise.
The only tricky bit was that I had to wear a t-shirt to avoid getting my arm stuck/ sewn inside the shade.
It took about 400 muffin cases and about 4 hours.

what is a muffin case?
ReplyDeleteThis is ,I think,a little paper in what you put the mixture (flour+sugar+milk for instance)of cakes before to cook them.Sorry for my english,I'm french!Catherine
ReplyDeleteThanks I thought that was what they are but they do look like materiel instead of paper very cool..
DeleteYour English is a lot better than my French!
Is there any reason you sewed them on instead of gluing them? I'd think that gluing would be much easier and faster. Still looks great the way you did it.
ReplyDeleteI had thread, but not a glue gun. Lots of the people who did glued shades put the time estimates at several days, so I thought I'd try this way.
DeleteThere is no chance of them popping off when they are sewn on. I love this hack, looks like a puffy flower. I might try it in a pale pink or lavander if I can fnd them.
ReplyDeleteOooooh! I think pale pink would look fabulous!
Deletewhat were they applied to?
