Akurum Pantry and Base into Window Seat

Materials: Akurum Pantry and Base Cabinet

Description: I made a plinth out of 2 x 4 lumber 3.5 inches shorter then the 2 feet width pantry. I faced the 2 x 4 s with Ikea Akurum toe kick. Next I screwed the base cabinet and pantry together and placed it on the plinth. I then used the Ikea mounting hardware to place it on the wall. I then filled the gaps on the end with more toe kick. My wife has since purchased a pad and upholstered it and purchased baskets for storage. It is quite nice and gets a great deal of use.

  1. Can you provide a link to the particular akurum pantry unit you used? I can't figure out which one it would be.

  3. I was also intrigued as to what they have used... I think I found the answer. I believe these cabinets are part of the "AKURUM/RATIONELL system Special cabinets". See here:

  4. I apologize for the late reply. I did not realize my submission was accepted and posted. It is an Akurum "High Cabinet. Here is the link: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19824714/
Of course you just need the frame and not the doors. My wife purchased a nice thick pad online and covered it. It looks very customized.
