The iPhone 4 Wall Mount Dock

iPhone 4 IKEA wall mount dock

Materials: Lack shelf, utby leg 110cm, some wiring, Dock insert

Description: The shelf shall be used as a docking station for the iPhone 4 with power and audio connection.

First I glued the needed wires to the dock insert which you can buy for 9 dollars for three inserts.

Cut a hole on top of the Lack shelf for the insert and a smaller one on the bottom for the audio and/ or usb cable.

I wanted to built in some speakers, but now I control the stereo over an airport express from there.

The shelf should be mounted on the wall regularly but unfortunately this one is to weak to bear the weight.

After all I had to mount two Utby legs for support.

I still have to hide the last cables and provide some flowers.

  1. Great idea. I thought at first it was so decadent to have a table for your iPhone then silly me realised about the screen above! Great idea, great execution and it'll be excellent once those cables are hidden. What are your plans with the flowers?

  4. Es ist erbärmlich. Perfekter Altar für den der sein iPhone vergöttert.

It's embarrassing. A perfect altar for those who idolized his iPhone.

  5. I don't think that this is embarrasing.
    The Idea is neat.
I've got an iPod Touch first Generation and I don't apotheosize it.
I've always wanted to buy an iPod Dock to use it as a good stand and also be able to use it as an alarm clock.

With this inspiration, I could built the dock out of a nightstand or integrate it in a dresser that is located in the hallway of the appartment.

You know, you enter your home, throw away your keys, put down your jacket and dock your iPod so it's battery is loaded when you pick it up and you always have a place for it.

You could do the same with a Blackberry, an Android phone or everything else that can be charged and / or play music.

It is embarrasing, that such a comment is written in german and that there are people who only see the bad in some things.
I don't like being a german - everywhere I go I see people hating everything and everybody - I don't see this sort of behaviour from folks of other countries.
Ironically is: These people only hate in german. Everyone speaks english and who falls out of line? The german :)

PS: I saw that you wrote that in english - Why post german in the first place? ;)

  9. Wow, great idea, I like it a lot and am actually trying to build this myself some time soon!

To the people hating and accusing the creator of "idolizing" his iPhone: The iPhone is e great piece of design (this may be influenced by personal taste, if you wanna put your Galaxy S up there, go ahead), so why not have a neat way of placing it in your home? It's way more appealing to the eye to have it set up like this instead of having a cheap white charger with a cable flopping around all the time, especially when the phone is not plugged in. Show some respect, please.

I wanted to install a dock on a shelf over my bed. I'm going to have to steal this hack...
