Lack Gets a Makeover

Materials: Lack coffee table

I wallpapered out little Lack and added decorative nails to give it a bit of glam.

Where do you get the nails/tacks from?

Beautiful! Can you tell me about the wallpaper you used? I just love the pattern. What brand? Where did you find it? Thanks!

Thank you very much for this great idea. I wanted to make over my Lack table for a longer time, but had no idea how i could do it. You can find my version of the Lack make over at, the post will be published tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you for this great idea. I recently went to Ikea to purchase supplies for a few apartment projects I wanted to work on. I found a Vika Amon table top in the “As-Is” section for $5 since the corners of the table had been obviously damaged, but I just couldn’t pass it up. I knew I’d be able to do something with it and I think I just found the answer. Definitely going to give this a try.

I absolutely love this project! I just started a decorating blog and it was the first DIY post I wrote about!

This looks extraordinarily nice and professional! Modge Podge is an amazing medium to have to seal objects. However, I tried to use it to seal the Lack side tabletop laminate because it scratches so easily. But the Modge Podge just ended up bubbling off, so I will retry using your method of using the wallpaper as well. Also, the tacks will help keep pencils and other objects from rolling off the table as easily. Thanks!

  8. I love the reinvent that is displayed on this blog. We as a society throw out so much furniture and stuff that can be repurposed or reused in different or similar form. Ikea Hackers inspire people to reinvent before throwing stuff to the curb. This design takes a simple coffee table and brings it to a higher level of style. Great Job!

Lovely. Thanks very much. I’ve got a chest that my brother made for me and I didn’t know how to decorate it. Now I do.

It looks rich, I like it. One of my favorite lack hacks.

Beautiful! Am thinking of doing this with the floating shelves. In what steps did you use the adhesives?

Very nice. Reminds me of a table in the current Martha Stewart magazine- they covered a tabletop with a print fabric and then wrapped it in clear vinyl. It may have had nailheads, too.
